India Unveils Major Cybercrime Operation near Andhra Pradesh SEZ

Visakhapatnam: Police in Andhra Pradesh have dismantled a large-scale cybercrime network operating near the Atchutapuram Special Economic Zone (SEZ), with over 100 individuals, including women, arrested in what authorities described as a significant operation targeting international victims.

The operation, which took place in a sprawling industrial area, involved multiple buildings that were reportedly used as fronts for a cybercrime operation spanning two years. The arrested individuals were allegedly involved in deceiving victims in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and other countries.

According to a police official, the criminals were specifically recruited for their distinct English accents to enhance their ability to deceive foreign victims. The suspects were reportedly working in what appeared to be call centers, with many of the flats equipped with computers and individuals constantly on their phones.

The operation was the result of four months of surveillance, with the offices spread across different buildings without visible signs.
