India Rejects Pakistan’s Allegations of Involvement in Balochistan Bombing
India has rejected Pakistan’s claims that Indian forces were responsible for a bombing that killed six people, including four students, in Khuzdar, Balochistan. The incident, which occurred on May 21, 2025, has sparked renewed tensions between the two neighboring countries.
The Balochistan chief minister, Sarfaraz Bugti, reported that the blast targeted a school bus, resulting in significant casualties and injuries. The external affairs ministry spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, strongly denied the allegations made by Pakistan’s military media, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Jaiswal stated that India is mourning the victims of such attacks but emphasized that Pakistan’s accusations are baseless. He accused Pakistan of using these claims to shift focus from its own internal security challenges and to conceal its failures in managing the region’s instability.
The ISPR did not provide any evidence to support its allegations, claiming that Indian proxies had been unleashed to create unrest in Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa provinces. This comes amid a period of heightened tension following recent military clashes between India and Pakistan.
Balochistan, Pakistan’s most resource-rich but sparsely populated province, has long faced an insurgency. Local militant groups have been demanding greater autonomy and control over natural resources, a demand that has fueled years of conflict and instability in the region.
The bombing occurred just over a week after India and Pakistan reached an agreement to end military hostilities following a series of clashes that involved the use of drones, missiles, and long-range weapons. These clashes followed Operation Sindoor, launched by India on May 7 in response to the Pahalgam terror attack of April 22.
