India Launches Global Anti-Terror Outreach to 33 Countries
New Delhi: India has launched a significant diplomatic initiative to engage with 33 countries in a coordinated effort to combat terrorism. The program, which follows the recent Pahalgight attack, involves seven delegations of parliamentarians visiting foreign nations and the United Nations Security Council to present India’s unified stance against terrorism.
The delegations, comprising members from various political parties, will travel to countries around the world to share India’s perspective on the global fight against terrorism. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri provided briefings to the delegations, outlining the objectives and rationale behind the selection of these 33 countries. According to BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi, the list includes 15 UN Security Council members, including current and upcoming members, as well as countries that have a significant global presence.
One of the delegations, led by JDU’s Sanjay Kumar Jha, will travel to Japan, the first destination of the outreach program. This delegation includes members from the BJP, CPM, and other parties, and will engage with political leaders, intellectuals, and expatriates in Japan.
India’s outreach comes in the wake of Operation Sindoor, in which Indian forces have taken action against terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. The delegations will also focus on countering the narrative that Pakistan is a major player in promoting terrorism, which is a key concern for India.
